Having worked at a leading silver circle firm, Ian has extensive experience of complex, large-scale competition litigation, with particular expertise in European Commission follow-on claims at the High Court and Competition Appeal Tribunal.
In recent years, Ian has worked on a number of high-profile cartel claims spanning a range of industries such as power cables, foreign exchange and truck manufacturers. He has also worked on two carriage claims arising from the recent surge of CPO litigation.
Cases that Ian has advised on include:
- Worked on a large number of concurrent CAT proceedings, involving both follow-on and collective proceedings. In particular, he assisted on simultaneous claims from various utility companies against a power cable manufacturer based in England and Italy with total overcharge in the region of £500m.
- Assisted extensively in various CAT proceedings arising from a cartel between truck manufacturers, including an ongoing CPO litigation which has received certification.
- Experienced in general commercial litigation and has worked on proceedings from a range of industries including construction, banking, tax and private client litigation. In particular, he has assisted on a matter advising the trustee of a group of large pharmaceutical companies with a value in the region of £2bn.
- Seconded to an in-house client to advise on data protection and GDPR compliance.
